Bharat Milap Temple
The Bharat Milap Temple marks the spot where, according to the Ramayana, Bharat met his brother Ram in the forests of Chitrakoot to persuade him to return to Ayodhya and take the throne. Ram refused, choosing to complete his exile, and the meeting is remembered here as one of the most emotional moments in the epic.
The temple itself is modest compared to some of the grander shrines in the region, but its story draws pilgrims who are following the Ramayana circuit through Chitrakoot. Sculptures and murals inside depict the meeting between the brothers, and a small fair is held near the temple every year around the Bharat Milap festival, which re-enacts the reunion.
It's usually visited alongside Kamadgiri and Ramghat as part of a half-day tour of Chitrakoot's main Ramayana sites.
