The state is world-famous for Banarasi silk sarees from Varanasi, known for their fine silk, zari work, and traditional motifs inspired by Mughal designs. Chikankari embroidery from Lucknow is admired for its delicate hand embroidery done on muslin, cotton, and silk fabrics. Other important textile crafts include Zardozi embroidery, Kalamkari-inspired prints, and traditional handloom weaving in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
