Ramghat, Chitrakoot: History & Visitor Guide
Ramghat is the main riverside ghat in Chitrakoot, set on the banks of the Mandakini River, and is believed to be one of the spots where Ram, Sita, and Lakshman bathed during their exile. It has the same quiet, devotional atmosphere as Varanasi's ghats, but on a smaller, more intimate scale.
The ghat comes alive in the evening with an aarti ceremony, when priests perform rituals with lamps along the steps and the reflections play across the water. Boat rides are available for a small fee and give a good view of the ghat and the temples lining the riverbank. Early morning is quieter and better for photography, while evenings suit the aarti.
Ramghat is an easy walk or short drive from Kamadgiri and Hanuman Dhara, making it simple to cover all three in one visit to Chitrakoot.
