History and Legacy
Rumi Darwaza was built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh. The structure was inspired by ancient gateways of Istanbul (Rumi). It served as an entrance to the old city of Lucknow and remains a lasting reminder of the Nawabi era.
