Day 3 - Journey to Paro, National Museum and Rinpung Dzong
Day Overview
What to expect today
Have breakfast and depart Punakha for Paro. If the Punakha Dzong visit was deferred from Day 2, complete it before leaving and revise the afternoon schedule to match the later arrival. The road journey returns through the western valleys, with comfort stops arranged according to the group’s needs.
On reaching Paro, visit the National Museum of Bhutan before its last-admission time, where travel progress allows. The galleries introduce Bhutanese heritage in the former Ta Dzong watchtower. Continue to Rinpung Dzong for a guided visit to the areas open to visitors. The museum and dzong have separate access arrangements, so their sequence should follow local advice.
Check in to the hotel and keep the evening light. There may be time for a town walk or optional browsing before dinner at your own expense. Prepare for the following day’s monastery hike and allow time for rest. If delays prevent a scheduled visit, the revised sightseeing scope must be agreed with the travellers.
